The context

Every week, AVM Asbestverwijdering sends several crews out to demolition and renovation jobs. Each crew has a certified asbestos supervisor (DTA) and a number of removal workers, and every job needs its own equipment, containers and clearances.

The problem

Who is available, who holds which certificate, which crane goes along and which week is already locked? Planning had to keep all of that in view at once, and every change affected several people.

Core problem

A planning board only works if it knows the rules of the trade: a crew without a DTA can't go out, and a change just before the job has to be reported.

Our approach

We started with a clickable prototype and refined it in sessions with the planner and end users, before the connection to the source system was built.

  1. 1

A weekly planning board with crews per day, where projects and workers are scheduled by drag and drop.

  2. 2

Planning rules in the app: roles and certificates per worker, and a warning when a crew has no DTA or when the DTA changes just before the job.

  3. 3

Locking weeks and half days, duplicating jobs or splitting them into half days, and searching across all plan items.

What we built

A Next.js app that reads projects and workers from AVM's back-office system and writes the planning back to it. The source stays leading: data from the CRM is read-only in the app.

Results

The planner sees the whole week, all crews and all availability on one screen. The app grows step by step, based on feedback from the people who use it every day.
